The 386 brings the same combined 5g and 10g logic used on the 374-1 imperial strip over to the metric market, four repeats of the pair per strip, so a technician working in grams does not have to open two separate boxes to pull the two values that most often get used together.
Unlike the sharper edged version of this idea, the 386 is built on a round corner structure, which protects the finish on the alloy wheels this metric spec is most often installed against.
Stamping accuracy on both the 5g and 10g segments is held independently to a tight tolerance, so combining the two values on one strip does not introduce more error than using either alone, matching the quality standard held across the metric range.
By bundling the two most commonly paired metric values into one round corner strip, the 386 reduces both the number of partial strips left over after a job and the risk of marking a freshly installed alloy wheel, making it a practical staple for shops doing steady metric market balancing work.
