The 397 is the standard issue one ounce imperial weight most shops reach for when a job is a routine American passenger car or alloy wheel with no unusual clearance or finish concerns. Four segments per strip give a workable middle ground, enough total weight per strip to cover common corrections, broken finely enough that a technician is not forced to overshoot.
Because it is meant to be the default rather than the exception, consistency across the strip matters more than on a specialty item, and stamping tolerances are held accordingly tight so that segment four performs the same as segment one.
Lead free, anti rust steel keeps the 397 compliant with North American environmental standards for wheel weight composition, and the right angle stamping makes it easy to trim and press flush against a standard wheel barrel.
At thirty six strips per box and four boxes per case, the packaging is sized for the volume a general purpose imperial weight actually moves through in a working shop, landing between the largest bulk specs and the smaller specialty ones. The grey coating keeps it visually unobtrusive on the wide range of factory wheel finishes this weight is installed against.
